Martin Luther King Jr saw the mountaintop. He realized that we are to be independent of others and dependent upon ourselves in order to survive as a people. What he had in the works to unite all black people in solidarity towards that mission was a threat to the status quo of American interests and therefore they assassinated him the very next day.
